The BFG, big friendly giant for those of you that aren’t familiar with the classic children’s story, or any of it’s film and TV adaptations, written by the legend that is Roald Dahl. The story of a young girl living in an orphanage who one night happens to see a giant outside of her window, who takes her away back to the home of the giants where although they quickly become friends, it is soon obvious however, that it is no place for children.
The question is, will another re-telling of the story be able to somehow do it even more justice rather than another way to tarnish a classic? Everyday it seems we get more and more remakes and the original films are disappearing. There is no doubt that any Roald Dahl story is perfect material for making a family orientated film, as long as it’s given the right director and screenwriter so it gets a worth adaptation, and when those two are Steven Spielberg and the sadly recently passed Melissa Mathison, this actually has a pretty good chance of surpassing expectations.
